VIVAnews - The Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) was upset over the answers provided by three presidential candidates on Corruption Court Bill during the Presidential Candidates Debate held on Thursday, June 18.
The three candidates were considered as not having any commitment and initiative in eradicating corruption.
ICW researcher Febridiansyah said Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), who is still serving as president, was failing because he could only make promises to combat corruption.
SBY promised to issue a regulation-in-lieu-of-law (Perpu) if the House of Representatives (DPR) was not able to pass the Corruption Court Bill.
“But, the deadline is December and SBY will only officiate until September. He's too confident that he will be re-elected”, Febri said during a rally conducted by the Corruption Eradication Savior Coalition demanding the legalization of Corruption Court Bill at the DPR building on Friday, June 19.
Meanwhile, Febri claimed Jusuf Kalla as not giving an indecisive answer. The vice president only said he “will be helping SBY setting the Perpu”. “It didn't show any assertiveness,” said Febri.
Whereas, Febri said, Kalla is the chairperson of Golkar Party which is the biggest faction in DPR.
DPR Chairman Agung Laksono and Head of Corruption Bill special team Dewi Asmara are also from Golkar faction. Kalla had even told Golkar cadres at DPR to complete the Bill as soon as possible.
“But apparently there haven't been many people attending the special team's meeting. Is it because they don't have the same view or they weren't listening to JK?” Febri said, questioning the situation.
As for Megawati, Febri said that she did not address the Corruption Court Bill at all. Mega only said: “Corruption can only be battled by a good moral character”.
“Obviously, we have doubt over the three candidates in eradicating corruption”, Febri said.
