VIVAnews - Adviser of Health Minister, Krisna Jaya, said Indonesia requires more specialists to function in various provincial hospitals.

"The nation needs around two thousand specialists for different hospitals across the country," said Krisna on Thursday.

He believes that the core problem that the nation deals with is that doctors or  specialists have refused to work in remote hospitals.

In the mean time, Chief of Indonesia Provincial Hospitals Association, Kuntjoro Adi Purjanto, said provincial hospitals have yet to provide better services as they depend much on provincial governments.

"Hospitals in the provinces should have not contributed their profits to local governments," he said.

The said practices have helped degrade hospital services as they tend to gain more profits from disadvantaged patients.

According to Kuntjoro, the discrimination towards poor patients is common in regional hospitals.
