VIVAnews - The Indonesian government says military budget in the 2012 State Budget will be increased by three percent.

"We will consider a significant rise of [the military budget] to Rp64.4 trillion compared to the previous Rp47.5 trillion in 2011," said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono during the 66th anniversary of the Indonesian Military today, October 5.

Extra budget is required to improve Indonesia's weaponry system, said Yudhoyono.

The Indonesian President moreover emphasized continuous attempts from the government to add more to the military budget.

"Our weaponry system must be fully supported by domestic defense industry. We cannot forever depend on foreign supplies," he said.
