VIVAnews – Acts of violence have lately been headlines in the mass media. The nation seems to have lost its skills in anticipating such cases. Early detection, that should have been set up by police, is being questioned.

The undetected symptoms of violent acts may be caused by lack of budget.

A member of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Tjatur Sapto Edy, confirmed that the Police department used to have programs in efforts to maintain people’s safety.

“Many programs have been removed,” he said in Jakarta on Tuesday night, Jan 10th.

The many detection programs are not maximum, said Tjatur, because the budget is too low. Police intelligence receives only Rp100 billion worth of budget per year.

“The Rp100 billion budget nationwide means that one Police station only receives Rp40 million per year, which is considered too low,” he said.
