Telecommunication Network in Aceh Restored

VIVAnews – After being affected by two earthquakes yesterday, the telecommunication network in Aceh has resumed functions today. 

“This morning at 5.30 AM the condition in Aceh was back to normal,” said Head of Information Center & Public Relations of the Ministry of Communications & Information, Gatot Dewa S Broto. Based on the Ministry’s report, there are no fatal damages on the BTS and telephone central office. 

The Ministry of Communications & Information visited remote areas to check for any damages. The access to Simeuleu, Aceh is still difficult because of the damages.  Electricity supply has become the main reason of communication network problems. 

Corrective actions have been performed by the Ministry since yesterday. They have also prepared energy assistance to support the system.  BTS batteries have been replaced and spare batteries have been supplied so that communications will not be disrupted. 

Operators are ready to detect impaired BTS. 

The Ministry of Communications & Information urged people to use the communication services accordingly so that communication traffic will not be jammed.  

Network capacity has been upgraded to anticipate high communication demand.  “This is unpredictable, unlike Lebaran,” said Gatot.
