ADB Praises Indonesia

VIVAnews - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the Asian Development Bank (ADB) praised the economic policies issued by the Indonesian government in dealing with the global financial crisis.

"Including fiscal policies discussed with the House of Representatives (DPR)," said Sri Mulyani on Monday, 16 February, after accompanying President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in a meeting with ADB President Haruhiko Kuroda "They are hoping that fiscal stimulation may boost the Indonesian economy in reducing the impact of the crisis," she said.

During the meeting, President Yudhoyono responded to ADB, whohas chosen Indonesia to host the 42nd ADB annual meeting which will be held in May. "Being the host for the coming meeting will be very important for Indonesia. This signals that there is high confidence over Indonesia," said Sri Mulyani.

According to Sri Mulyani, the President also said the Indonesian government is trying to reduce the impact of the global crisis which affects the national economy.

The government expects upcoming ADB meeting to benefit Indonesia because more than 3,000 people will attend the meeting.
