Large Oil Reserves Found in Ambalat

VIVAnews - The Department of Energy and Mineral Resources stated that based on early indication, quite large oil reserves are found in Aster Field, Ambalat Block.

The field, organized by Italy-based oil company ENI, is figured of being able to produce between 30 thousand and 40 thousand barrels per day.

Director General of Oil and Gas, Evita Herawati Legowo, claimed in the Department of Energy's webpage that within two to three months, ENI will set up a testing. "If it succeeds, then the first production of the Aster field will have been possible," she said.

Concerning the position of the Ambalat Block, which is adjacent to Malaysia, Minister of Energy Purnomo Yusgiantoro said that there should not be any anxiety for the area is part of Indonesia's territory.
