Tangerang – The Tangerang District Health Office recorded an increase in cases of dengue fever (DBD). Based on the data received, there were 600 cases in January 2024, while February saw a total of 600 cases.

"If totaled overall in the past two months, it could reach 1,200 cases of DBD," said dr. Achmad Muchlis, Head of the Tangerang District Health Office, on Tuesday.

From these cases, dengue fever was experienced by people of all ages, from children to the elderly. All patients received treatment at local health facilities, both community health centers (Puskesmas) and hospitals.

"These cases affect both children and the elderly and for dengummke fever cases, in February there were four deaths, including from the areas of Panongan, Jambe, and Cikupa," Muchlis remarked.

They have instructed all health facilities, both Puskesmas and district-owned hospitals, to increase readiness to provide services to the public.

In addition, they have also instructed health education officers at the sub-district level to provide education on prevention and the dangers of diseases caused by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.

"We have prepared medicines, mosquito fogging, and other DBD prevention facilities at all health facilities. We have even coordinated to ensure that all Puskesmas and district-owned and private hospitals are on alert," Muchlis explained.

"We also urge residents to check for mosquito larvae in their homes (one house, one larval inspector) to reduce these DBD cases," he added.
