Toni Braxton to Be on Stage at Java Jazz

VIVAnews - Annual international jazz festival Java Jazz is to take place in less than three more months in Jakarta. Java Production chose John Legend and Toni Braxton to lure people to watch the event.

"People don't wanna come to a jazz show if they are not familiar with the artists," said Chairperson of Java Production Peter F Gontha on Thursday, Jan 21.

He claimed that Norah Jones and Michael Buble were earlier listed as key performers. "But we have yet to make it," he said.

Meanwhile, Eki Puradireja, Program Coordinator of JJF said all performers were suggested by members of the Java mailing list. "Audiences mostly made requests in the mailing list and we're trying to make it happen," he said.

The artists' schedule as well as tariff are also put into consideration.

Java initially wanted to invite Santana. Nonetheless, the living guitarist legend set higher tariff. "We cannot affor the price," he said.

Eki also said that John Mayer was also on the list. "But he'll be on tour until the end of March," he said.
