VIVAnews - Indonesian tycoon, who just acquired the shares of PT Carrefour Indonesia, Chairul Tanjung, considered himself lunatic as he decided to invest in Makassar, South Sulawesi.
"There can'be no one, except such a madman as me, who wants to invest for lesser income," said Tanjung in Jakarta, June 28.
Chairul considered the choice he made was based on experiences that the investment will require 20-30 percent larger than it is aiming at Jakarta. In fact, Makassar is the business hub for eastern Indonesian region. "Not to mention Papua and Moluccas," he said.
In addition, Makassar has lesser economic value than Medan, whose economy is 2.5 times higher than Medan.
"Would such situation lure investment to eastern Indonesia?" said Tanjung.
