VIVAnews - The Seribu Islands Police Department have only revealed the cases on child trafficking. Police investigation shows that 38 children are proved victims of the child trade. A suspect named Sartono, 34, was arrested following the cases at train station Kota, West Jakarta, several days earlier.
According to Chief of Crime and Investigation at Seribu Islands Police Department, Adjoutant Comm. Reynold Hutagalung, the perpetrator was apprehended after a child initialed HRL, 14, filed a report to the police about the alleged suspect.
The victim told the police that Sartono had promised to buy him a cellphone, the same motive was also applied to other children who later be his victims of sexual abuse.
Most of the victims were later offered to other pedophiles living in several cities such as Serang, Cikampek, Purwakarta and Bandung (West Java). Those poor children were released at Rp50 thousand.
"The suspect admits that he has committed the said crime 38 times over many children in different cities," said Reynold yesterday, Jan 10.
Police investigators have questioned seven witnesses concerning HRL case. Three cellphones belonging to the culprit were confiscated.
According to Reynold, Sartini claimed that he had offended street children sexually before getting into marriage. The encounter with HRL took place in Seribu Islands as the kid was selling toys.
