VIVAnews - Customs and Excise officers secured 1.309 millions of illegal banderoles worth around Rp4.14 billion. The manipulation was perpetrated by experts in banderole production. They have been listed as fugitives by the authorities.
Customs and Excise Agency also confiscated priting machines and other devices used for designing banderole and hologrammed items.
"Not only have the banderoles been confiscated, but the producers have also been arrested," said Director General of Customs and Excise Thomas Sugijata today, Feb 17.
The syndicate was picked up in Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran and Pademangan. The officers have named three suspects initialed ARC, SRM and HNR.
ARC has been listed in Police record for the forgery case since 2007. After three years of operation, ARC is alleged of causing the state to lose Rp576 billion.
The banderole makers shifted places in every two to three months to avoid state monitoring. In fact, the party had set up a production company by using a law office as a camouflage.
Customs and Excise Directorate figured the culprits produced 5.6 millions of banderoles per month at a total amount of Rp16 billion.
