VIVAnews - The Indonesian government plans to supply more gas to Japan following the increasing demands on energy in the aftermath of high-magnitude earthquake and tsunami.

Industry Minister MS Hidayat said the additional gas supply will not be solely based on commercial interest but humanity issues.

"We all know that Japan was the first country giving its hands to Indonesia after the 2006 tsunami," he said today, March 22.

Japan through its Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister, Makiko Kikuta, particulary called on Indonesia to export more gas for Japan's power plants.

Nonetheless, the Indonesian government will prioritize on domestic gas supply. "The allocation will be arranged by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources," he said.
