Jakarta to Build 7 Pedestrian Tunnel Crossing

VIVAnews - The Jakarta administration plans to build seven pedestrian tunnel crossing in the Indonesian capital aiming at connecting office buildings with both mass rapid transit network and business centers.

According to Chief of Jakarta City Layout, Wiryatmoko, the pedestrian tunnel crossing will be expanded to a commercial area.

"The train stations will be situated 20 meters below the surface. Three-story commercial area is possible there," said Wiryatmoko on Wednesday.

As reported, the planned city layout still requires a legal ground.

Wiryatmoko said the Jakarta administration attempts to accelerate the preparation of the needed regulation as the MRT development will have to be started by early 2012.
