VIVAnews - PT Elnusa Tbk, a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina, dismissed its Director of Finance initialed SN from his office. SN was arrested by the officers of Police Criminal and Investigation Department for allegedly embezzling Elnusa's savings account worth Rp161 billion.
According to Elnusa Division Head of Corporate Secretary, Heru Samodra, the dismissal is aimed at expediting police investigation over the case. Elnusa assigns other director to hold the office ad interim.
Heru said Elnusa deposited fund in Bank Mega of Jababeka-Cikarang branch as of September 7, 2009. The fund of Rp161 billion in total was divided into five accounts of time deposits.
The deposit-related documents were signed by an Elnusa officer while Bank Mega of Jababeka-Cikarang Branch Head accepted the process.
For the time being, the deposit's balance is recorded at Rp111 billion. The amount of deposit that Elnusa took out on March 5, 2010, reached Rp50 billion.
As Elnusa tried to obtain more from its savings account on April 19, 2011. According to Bank Mega of Jababeka-Cikarang Branch Head, the remaining fund had been drawn earlier. "If the fund were really drained up, the withdrawal thus had not been in line with the signed paper. The money was withdrawn to Elnusa's absence," he said.
Police also apprehended five other suspects including a man initialed IHB, Branch Head of Bank Mega of Jababeka-Cikarang.
