VIVAnews – The national bomb squad and the Antiterror force Special Detachment 88 discovered six bombs allegedly belonged to Muhammad Syarif network. The bombs were located following an information extended by a member of Syarif's cell.
“The evidence was tossed away to Soka River, Plumbon subdistrict, Cirebon,” said National Police spokesperson Chief. Comm. Boy Rafli Amar at the Police headquarter, Jakarta, May 5.
Boy stated that those bombs were thrown away by Syarif’s associates after Adz Dzikra mosque was attacked by a suicide bomber on Friday, April 15, in Cirebon, West Java. “After the bombing took place, They seemed to feel terrifying of the incident. That's why M [an initial for Syarif's colleague] disposed of the bombs. Fortunately, we can discover the bombs and prevent further terrors from happening,” said Boy
According to Boy, the found bombs were assembled inside metal tubes. Police had to dive into the river to locate them. “The bombs were found malfunctioned, as they were thrown to water,” says Boy.
Earlier, police arrested several suspects associated to M. Syarif. Among them was M. The man was arrested in Slawi, Central Java and was allegedly involved in the Cirebon bombing. From the search, M possessed grenades that have now been confiscated by the police.
Moreover, police have also apprehended Andri Siswanto, a.k.a Hasim, who is suspected of possessing explosives and mastering skills of assembling bombs.
Police are still investigating the case .
M Syarif was the suicide bomber at Adz Dzikra Mosque at a police compound in Cirebon. He detonated the bombs seconds before the Friday Prayer started. 30 men were injured during the incident including police commander, Adj. Chief. Comm.Herukoco.
