VIVAnews - Indonesian Minister of Defense said no news has been forwarded to the government as regards the conditions of 13 Indonesian hostages being held by Somali pirates aboard a Singaporean ship, MT Gemini.
"In the end, I believe they'll propose ransom demand," he said on Friday.
Purnomo had discussed about the piracy issue with the Singaporean authority. However, Singapore has yet to provide further response.
Somali pirates seized control over the ship on Tanzania waters on April 30, 2011. The Singaporean authorities have yet to acquire updates on the conditions of the ship and its crews.
"Detail information of the hijacked ship was not yet obtained," said Minister of Foreign Affairs Marty Natalegawa earlier last month.
Marty nonetheless stated Indonesia would maintain contacts with the Singaporean authorities in an effort to garner any information of the hostages.
