VIVAnews - It is predicted that the waste volume in Jakarta during the fasting month of Ramadan will increase by 10-15 percent per day due to the high consumption rate.
"During the Ramadan, the average waste is expected to rise by around 10-15 percent out of the current 6,500 tonnes per day," said Chief of Jakarta Waste Management Agency, Eko Baruna.
The accumulation is commonly contributed by temporary hawkers.
In an effort to anticipate the growing heap of waste, the authority will set up important posts to effectively deal with waste management.
Nonetheless, the agency decided to maintain the current number of garbage trucks and workers. Jakarta employs around 4,600 workers of waste management and owns 1,100 trucks.
