VIVAnews – Jakarta has only realized 81 percent of online data and levy system for three kinds of taxes applied for entertainment, restaurant and hotel. The system was commenced in 2010.
The first phase target only registered 647 out of 800 taxpayers. According to Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo, the yet unaccomplished target was due to technical problems relating to electronic specification and computerization that have not yet been applicable to all taxpayers.
In order to tackle this problem, the application system of the machine specification has been adjusted. “Also the hardware (black box), which is the instrument for connecting the cash register machine to the data communication network,” said Fauzi.
In addition, he said, his party took the initiative to reduce the online budget system stage II as proposed for the 2011 Jakarta Revised Regional Budget.
Analysis and evaluation into the online tax application stage I and online regional tax multi-year budget deliberation process, which would finish approximately by September 2011, have been taking place. Thus the effective time for the online tax system is about from November and December 2011.
In the mean time, Jakarta Head of Tax Agency Iwan Setiawandi said that as the target has not been met, he hopes that the remaining can be achieved this year.
As soon as the target is met, the online tax system application stage I will be evaluated, before heading to the second stage with the target of 3,000 taxpayers doing online tax payment.
