VIVAnews – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Ethics Committee has asked former Treasurer of Democratic Party Muhammad Nazaruddin to come for a questioning. However, Nazaruddin will most likely decline the invitation.
"We do not want to answer the invitation. Suppose there is someone who would pick us up, we won't come anyway," said Boy Afrian Bondjol, Nazaruddin’s lawyer, last night.
Boy said this is part of Nazaruddin’s decision to be tight-lipped regarding the case that has involved him.
The lawyer believed the call that the Ethics Committee made was not considered summons having legal force. This is unlike the case when Nazaruddin was summoned by the KPK investigators.
"Pak Nazar said he preferred being tongue-tied for the time being unless the summons is from KPK investigators," said Boy.
According to Boy, Nazaruddin is not the only party able to provide information on the case.
"To dismantle all this, it could be done through other parties' consent. We also have reasons for being silent. Mr. Nazaruddin as suspect also has the right to speak as he wills," said Boy.
It is planned that on Monday evening August 22, 2011, Nazaruddin will be invited by KPK Ethics Committee for questioning. The invitation is on condition that there is no summons from the KPK investigators to Nazaruddin.
