VIVAnews - The renegotiation process over the principles of the mining work contracts and coal mining business work agreements (PKP2B) has only reached 65 percent of the total mining companies under the contracts.
Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Director General of Mineral and Coal Thamrin Sihite explained that currently 65 percent of the companies have agreed upon the principles relating to the area width, divestitures, environmental management, royalties, and the obligation of using domestic services.
"The renegotiation is regulated in the law and, in principle, many have agreed," said Thamrin Sihite in Jakarta, Friday.
Based on data of the Energy Ministry, there are currently 42 companies under work contracts and 76 on PKP2B. As many as 35 percent of the total companies are still in renegotiation stage.
Is PT Freeport Indonesia included in companies that have agreed to renegotiate PKP2B contracts? Thamrin did not comment.
He only told not to confuse the PT Freeport Indonesia strike and the renegotiation of the work contract. "We've got a line for renegotiation. Not that we're happy because of this strike and then we renegotiate, it should not be interpreted like that," he said.
Earlier, during a meeting of Ad-Interim Minister Hatta Rajasa with Commission VII of the renegotiation process Wednesday targeting principles of the mining work contracts and work agreements coal mining business can be completed in late 2011.
