VIVAnews – The general public is still upset by a number of rape cases committed by public minivan drivers. However, a new case is now in the know as a baby sitter initialed HA, 38, was raped by another driver.
Minivan is popular means of public transportation in such city as Jakarta.
The assault was pulled off by Edy Sitorus, 25, a Jakarta resident. According to Makasar district police chief Comm. Edi Sursa Napier, the victim was raped on last Saturday, while the report was only filed on Wednesday, Oct 12.
"The victim's underwear, which is stained with blood, is picked as evidence. It is reported that the victim was a virgin. The blood discovered on the victim's underwear was from the hymen," Edi said in Jakarta on Friday.
In addition to being raped, the victim was also robbed of her gold ring, mobile phone and cash.
The incident occurred as the victim was going home to her employer’s house in Kalimalang from her brother's house in Pondokgede. In front of the terminal, she stopped a M28 minivan of Pondokgede-Kampung Melayu route that the perpetrator was driving.
The victim asked the driver if the car would pass Kalimalang. The driver said she could just get in and then later took another public car.
There were a few other passengers. The other passengers then got off the car. The victim then realized she was on an off-route minivan. "How long will it be taking to reach Kalimalang. It's unusual," he said quoting the victim.
The car then headed to a U-turn and hit the road to Pondokgede. In Pondokgede, the driver returned the car to the legal driver. The latter asked about the woman. But the victim was forced to keep the mouth shut. He said he would take her and give her some transport fee.
The woman was brought to another minivan. They stopped near Taman Garuda. The woman from Karawang was raped in the venue. Her ring weighing 1.5 grams was seized. After being raped, the victim was invited to have dinner.
During meal time, the victim’s mobile phone and money of Rp50,000 were taken. The victim was told to go home and threatened not to tell anyone. The culprit gave her his number to the victim.
On Wednesday at around 9 p.m., the victim made a report on the incident to the police. The police tried to call the number given to the victim. The number could not be reached.
The police then tried to call the victim’s number. The number was still active and the perpetrator answered the call. The police asked HA to lure the perpetrator by asking him out. It was successful and the perpetrator was arrested at 10 p.m. He is now detained at the Makasar District Police.
