VIVAnews - Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) appeals to Bogor Mayor, Diani Budiarto, to point out issue on Yasmin Church.
"The case has been both national and international concerns. News has it that certain mass organization as well as political parties are involved," said MUI Chairman, Ma'ruf Amin, today.
MUI is willing to hear from the Bogor Mayor as to whether or not the case is part of a political move.
According to Diani, Yasmin Church was granted building permit in 2006. He said one out of the 12 points of agreement on the church building says that if people show resistance against the church development, the building permit will be annulled. "People protested against the church building," said Diani.
Yasmin Church brought the case of building permit annulment to the court. The Supreme Court in its appeal verdict stated that the building permit was legit.
On the other hand, the Bogor Mayor, using Regional Law, insisted on calling off the building permit. As a result, one of Diani's supporting parties, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, took out its support for the Mayor.
