VIVAnews - Six passengers of local electric train services in Jakarta were injured last night due to a burst of panic following burnt pantograph near Tanjung Barat station, South Jakarta, on Tuesday.
The dismayed commuters scrambled for the doors out causing five people to fall.
Senior Security Manager of Zone I of PT Kereta Api Indonesia, Ahmad Sujadi, said today that the injured are listed as Amir Kuat Santoso, Nurohim, Nina Wulansari, Hendrik Januar, Sumiati, and Mastur. They are hospitalized in three different places.
The accident took place as the train was approaching Tanjung Barat station. During braking process, there were sparks on the pantograph. Passengers were losing control and fought for the way out of the railroad cars.
Amidst the situation, five passengers went down and were trampled.
Among the most serious injured passengers were those sitting on the train's roof. As the sparks appeared, they jumped off the roof.
