Deputy of Oil and Gas Regulator (BP Migas) Operational Control, Rudi Rubiandini, said the majority of the projects will begin by mid and end of 2012.  “The contribution to average annual production is estimated to reach 400 MMSCFD and 15,000 barrels per day," Rudi said, today.

The projects that are ready for operation are the 39th, 40th and 54th in West Madura Offshore (WMO) Block having Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) WMO as the operator. It sets the target at 13,600 barrels per day, which will be started in Q3.

Rudi said that the additional production is a way to control the decline in natural production especially oil.

“We want to control the fall from 12 percent to 3 percent,” he said.

However, the effort is not sufficient. He explained that BP Migas will accelerate the development of new fields.

He said Indonesia’s oil reserves are going down.  This year, the additional reserves found was only 215,5 million barrels of oil and 2,86 trillion of gas, whereas production reached 329,9 million barrels of oil and 3,08 trillion of gas.
