Q4, Indonesia's Economy May Grow 6.5 Pct

VIVAnews – Finance Minister, Agus Martowardojo, views that the Indonesian economy will grow to 6.5 percent by Q4 of 2011. The growth is in accordance with the target set by the government 2011 State Budget. β€œIt may even exceed 6.5 percent,” Agus said today, Dec 28.

The growth is mainly backed up by the manufacturing sector, trade and communications.

With regard to the target of exports, Agus said that value would reach US$200 billion. The amount is possible if the global crisis has yet to affect the nation.

The National Statistics Agency says the national economic growth in Q3 of 2011 had hit 6.5 percent, supported by agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry and fishery (5 percent). Trade sector, hotels and restaurants contributed 4.4 percent, while transportation and communication sector chipped in 3.6 percent.
