VIVAnews – Police have yet to discover any indication of corruption in the construction or maintenance of Kutai Kartanegara Bridge that collapsed on November 26, 2011. Until now, Police are still gathering evidence and statements from expert witnesses to reveal the case that killed dozens of people.
“We are still in the position of unveiling the cause of the collapse because the bridge has just been raised recently,” said Chief of Police Criminal Investigation, Ins. Gen. Sutarman after a hearing with the House of Representatives on Wednesday night, Feb 1.
Police, he said, are still doing laboratory examinations with the help of experts from several universities.
Police confirmed that the main reason of the collapse is known.
“We have listed the suspects, both from the government side and from the workers’ side,” said Sutarman.
Is there any indication of corruption? “Not yet,” said Sutarman firmly.
Police have also arrested three suspects of the initials of YS and HS, which were picked up on January 4, and MSF, project manager of PT Bukaka.
YS as the Budget Authority (KPA) have certain obligations and provisions as written in his job description. Therefore, YS is held also responsible of the incident.
