“Today, there will be tremendous lobbying to seek the medium base of parliamentary threshold,” said a PKS’s politician, Hidayat Nur Wahid. “The approved rate is is between three to four,” he said in the Parliamentary complex, today.

PKS seeks the alternate percentage of between 3 and 4 percent. “Perhaps, it will be 3.5 percent,” said Hidayat.

“3.5 percent is sufficient to accommodate those who want to go up from the previous 2.5 percent. However, top parties also appreciate medium-sized parties down to 3.5.”

With the limit of 3.5 percent, Hidayat said the parliament can be made up by up to nine parties, just like it was in the 2009-2014 terms. The limit will also provide enough room for all parties to go up against in contest. “So, this can’t be construed as eliminating the smaller parties or siding towards the bigger parties,” said Hidayat.
