Korea Praises RI’s Anti-Graft Efforts

VIVAnews – South Korean President, Lee Myung-bak, appreciated President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s efforts in battling against corruption in Indonesia. He also said that President Yudhoyono has successfully implemented the principles of democracy in Indonesia.

“These [actions] are respected highly by the International community, including myself,” said Myung-bak after his meeting with Yudhoyono at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Friday, March 6.

During the meeting between the two leaders, Indonesia and Korea agreed to boost the cooperation between the two countries. Both leaders agreed to enhance their cooperation in the fields of economic, defense, technology, anti-corruption, tourism, and labor.

Both leaders also called on for a closer relationship between the two countries to counter the impact of the global financial crisis. “Both countries [pledge] to bolster economic and investment cooperation,” said President Yudhoyono.

In addition, Indonesia and Korea also agreed to help cushion the impact of the global crisis on Indonesian workers in South Korea, by providing a grace period for those whose employment has been terminated.
