VIVAnews - Jakarta-Surabaya Batavia Air aircraft had to make an emergency landing at Ahmad Yani Airport, Semarang, Monday, March 30, around 8.30 pm local time.
"The airplane landed well and all passengers are safe," said Chief of Central Java Police Department Inspector General Alex Bambang Riatmodjo in Semarang, Central Java.
It was suspected that one of the engines failed to operate.
The airplane heading toward Surabaya carried 140 passengers. For the time being, it is still being repaired at the Ahmad Yani Airport, Semarang, Central Java.
A passenger, Hutabarat, said he once heard a small explosion on the left engine.
Soon after, the lights inside the aircraft went off. "The flight attendants told passengers to remain calm," he said on Monday, March 30.
No passengers suffered from any injuries.
