Papua in Conducive Situation: Military Chief

VIVAnews - The chief of Indonesian Military (TNI) General Djoko Santoso confirmed that the security situation in Papua has been conducive. "There isn't any significant development," said Santoso after a restricted meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and several ministers at the presidential office in Jakarta on Monday, April 13.

Related to the Free Papua Movement (OPM)'s involvement in the violence actions on the previous week, Gen. Santoso said that the police's investigation, there was an incident which was not related to OPM, such as the burning.

"It was not a sabotage. It was only a security disturbance in Papua to attract people's attention to stress their existence," the general said.

When being questioned on whether the security officials believed the violence was done systematically or not, Gen. Santoso said that their actions was to draw national attention. "If it's done systematically, we'll investigate how far it goes."
