No Cartel Involving State Cement Company

VIVAnews - Ministry of State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) renounced opinion that state cement factory is involved in a cartel. However, the department is ready to be questioned if the Commission for the Supervision of Business Competition (KPPU) needs further information.

Earlier, KPPU was monitoring eight top Indonesian cement producers in line with the alleged cartel violation.

"In Indonesia, cement industry is only controlled by eight top companies that are divided into four groups of companies," said KPPU Head of Monitoring Team for Cement Industry, Ahmad Ramadhan Siregar.

KPPU suspected that cement prices in the country are higher they are in other countries. Compared to other ASEAN countries, cement prices in Indonesia are 30 percent to 40 percent higher.
