Fertilizer Export Delayed

VIVAnews - The government has not yet planned to export fertilizer following the decision to cancel cement import.

Minister of Industry Fahmi Idris on Thursday, April 30, said that imported fertilizer is halted because the domestic production meets the need. "It is caused by the smooth gas supply," he said.

Idris explained that gas export to destination countries has been reduced resulting in the allocation of exported gas to domestic fertilizer production. "The industry does not face difficulty to fulfil urea demand this year," he said.

In fact, the recent concern deals with non-organic fertilizer production due high dependency on imported raw material. Idris said the depreciating rupiah has caused an increase in non-organic fertilizer raw material's prices, especially phosphate.
