Local Markets Unaffected by Crisis

VIVAnews - Consumer's confidence rate over local markets in the first quarter of 2009 is still high. Local markets are relatively unaffected by the global economic downturn.

The result is based on the latest polls carried out by Nielsen Omnibus in the first quarter of 2009.

According to Head of Consumer Research of Nielsen Indonesia, Catherine Eddy, consumers tend to see over the situation in the country positively. Price increase of packed goods are quite stable.
 
The polls were regularly conducted in Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Bandung, Semarang and Makassar.

The survey showed 47 percent of consumers stated that the local markets in the last six months were normal. They are expecting that the markets will remain stable in the next six months.
