VIVAnews – Philip Moris International president for Asia region Matteo Pellegrini was appointed as the chief commissioner of PT HM Sampoerna Tbk.
“All [shareholders] agreed to appoint to Matteo Pellegrini to replace the late Angky Camaro,” said HM Sampoerna communication director Niken Rachmad in the corporate extraordinary shareholders meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
Other than that, the meeting also appointed Douglas Walter Werth as the vice chief commissioner. There is not any change in the other members of the commissioner board.
HM Sampoerna is one of the companies affiliated with Philip Moris International of which its main business is to produce and sell kretek (clove) cigarettes.
Meanwhile, Philip Moris is a cigarette company that owns seven of the top fifteen cigarette brands in the world, such as Marlboro. Philip Moris’ market segment reaches 15.6 percent of the international cigarette market outside the US.
