Foreign Tourists Can Stay Longer in Indonesia

VIVA – The Class II Immigration Office of TPI Entikong, especially those on duty at the Entikong Immigration Checkpoint or Pos Cross Borders Entikong is very enthusiastic about foreigners who come to Indonesian territory, especially to West Kalimantan for tourism.

The support is the application of a new policy issued by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in particular the Directorate General of Immigration. This new policy is regulated in a circular letter Number IMI-0584.GR.01.01 of 2022 concerning Ease of Immigration in the Framework of Supporting Sustainable Tourism During the 2019 CoronaVirus Disease Pandemic.

From the new policy, it’s regulated that foreign tourists from 9 countries in ASEAN can travel with a residence permit for a maximum of 30 days in Indonesia, using special tourist visa-free facilities.

In addition, there are 60 countries that are given facilities in the form of Visa on Arrival or Visit Visa on special tourist arrivals.

Head of the Information and Communication Sub-Section at the Class II Immigration Office of TPI Entikong, Adi Bambang Guritno said that citizens from these 60 countries who use a special tourist visa on arrival are given a special 30 days for staying permit in Indonesia.

"If the foreigners feel that it’s not enough to enjoy the natural and wonderful cultural in Indonesia, the foreigners’s permit can be extended by 30 days by applying for an extension at the local Immigration office, with a Pos Cross Border cost of Rp500.000," Adi said in his statement on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

Since the issue of the Circular Letter until May 22, 2022, there were 368 foreigners who used the Special Tourist Visa Free facility and the Special Tourist Visa on Arrival.

Not only that, there are also foreigner visas that use the Visa-Free Facility specifically for Tourism and Visa on Arrival specifically for tourism to visit Indonesia for tourist purposes, which enter through the Entikong Poss Cross Border Immigration Checkpoint.

"This policy is a manifestation of our function as development facilitators and we hope the ease of immigration can have a positive impact on tourism and the economy in West Kalimantan," he said.

In the Circular letter, apart from going through the Immigration Checkpoints at Pos Cross Border Entikong, there are three other PLBN Checkpoints, nine Immigration Checkpoints at the International Airport, and eleven Immigration Checkpoints at Seaports which can also provide Special Tourist Visa Free Facilities and Visa on Arrival.

Especially for foreign tourists who come to Indonesia for tourism.

"Our task as the executor of duties from the Directorate General of Immigration is to be able to carry out our function as Development Facilitators. The application of the Circular at the Entikong Pos Cross Border Immigration Checkpoint, hopefully it can also have a positive impact on tourism and economic progress in West Kalimantan," said Adi Bambang Guritno.
