In this case, he collaborated with Willis E Venable, a drugstore owner. Originally, this syrup was actually introduced as a medicine called a "brain tonic".
Along with the development of the brain tonic, a prominent advertising marketer named Frank Mason Robinson emerged offering greater product marketing. From there, then emerged a company called Coca Cola that is a combination of the names of the two basic ingredients.
Pemberton eventually died of stomach cancer he suffered. But before he died, he had sold the Coca Cola Recipe to Asa Candler in 1892 with the Coca-Cola business rights and his secret formula was later incorporated by Griggs Candler into The Coca Cola Company.
