VIVA – Besides having exotic and charming beaches, Mandalika in Lombok presents an amazing paragliding location, called Sky Lancing. This place is located in Tampah, Mekarsari Village, West Praya District, Central Lombok Regency.
The beauty of Sky Lancing as a paragliding location was appreciated by the Assistant for Potential Aerospace (Aspotdirga) Kasau, Marshal of the Indonesian Armed Forces, Bowo Budiarto. He said that the location is very appropriate to be used as a center for aerospace sports.
"Alhamdulillah, today, we inaugurate Bukit Lancing as a center for aerospace sports in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB)," Marsekal of the Indonesian Armed Forces, Bowo Budiarto remarked.
According to Bowo Budiarto, the location of Sky Lancing is quite good and interesting. Because it is in a tourist destination area not far from the Mandalika Special Economic Zone.
Therefore, he hopes that Sky Lancing can be developed so that it is more advanced and developed. Most importantly, Paragliding athletes in NTB can continue to develop, and improve their abilities and sports skills.
With the existence of Sky Lancing paragliding, aerospace sports in NTB can continue to develop and have an impact on the progress of tourism in Central Lombok. In addition, this location can be a supporter of tourist destinations in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone.
Marsekal of the TNI, Bowo Budiarto also said that the location of this paragliding sport should be able to have an impact on the economic growth of the surrounding community, both MSMEs and tourism.
"It can encourage economic growth. So, this potential must be developed to increase development in NTB," Bowo Budiarto remarked.
Danlanud ZAM, Colonel Pnb. Endri Kargono said the existence of Sky Lancing could not be separated from the generosity of the location owners, namely, Santo and Baiq Farida who developed this area.
According to Danlanud, the background for making Sky Lancing is because of the large number of NTB aerospace athletes. However, it is constrained by the lack of training places. So, the training is also limited.
"From there, Mr. Santo and Mrs. Ida took the initiative to make the location a training location for aerospace athletes, so that the training of NTB athletes would not be interrupted because of the absence of a training location," Colonel Pnb. Endri Kargono remarked.
It will not only be a center for paragliding sports, this location will be used as a location for paragliding competitions during PON 2028.
