Marc Marquez May Leave Honda: “If I Don’t Have Tools to the Top"

VIVA – Marc Marquez became the MotoGP world champion for the last time in 2019. At that time, he won the title for the fourth consecutive time with Repsol Honda. However, in the following three seasons, the racer with the nickname Baby Alien failed to be the best again.

So far, Marc Marquez has won six MotoGP world titles. All of which he achieved with Honda, the renowned Japanese manufacturer. There was a reason Marquez began to fail to make the most of a racing season, and that was his shoulder injury. He often fell off the motorbike, and the injury recurred.

Despite the decrease in performance, the Spaniard was retained by Honda. He was even treated very well to recover.

The Spaniard, who has a contract until 2024, made this clear, starting by stressing his appreciation for Honda: 'I feel a lot of respect for Honda because the way that during these two years that I was injured, the way that we speak, the way that they take care of me was special. Unfortunately, it is known, Marc Marquez has thoughts of leaving Honda. He will do that if the manufacturer cannot provide the maximum motorbike to help him become a world champion.

'But now (at the end of) 2022, my mind is only on coming back to the top with Honda. Then of course, if I cannot because I feel like I don't have the tools, I will try to find the best for me. And this is something that I already said to them.” Marc Marquez explained.

“But now in 2022 I only want to stay with Honda, and staying with Honda is my target. But, my biggest target is to win championships. So, this is what I will look for in the future.” He added.

Marquez said that his thoughts had been conveyed directly to Honda. But before his contract expires in 2024, he will remain loyal to the team.

In MotoGP 2023, Marquez has a new teammate, Joan Mir. He is the 2020 MotoGP world champion while still defending Suzuki Ecstar.
