The Reasons Why Elon Musk Postpones India Visit

"These have all finalized Indonesia's agreements with our decision, EV, which was yesterday at the cabinet meeting, and we can announce it immediately. Then the big world players will enter Indonesia," he added.

Mnister Luhut added, the development of the electric vehicle battery ecosystem and electric vehicles starting from upstream with nickel downstream, has made Indonesia a very attractive investment destination for the world.

This is also supported by the success of the 2022 G20 Presidency which received great praise from the world.

"The G20 is an extraordinary breakthrough that was appreciated until last night I was in Davos, they gave praise to the organization and outcome of the G20 that we just passed some time ago," he said.

Luhut believes that Indonesia will become one of the world's top three electric vehicles (EV) battery producers by 2027.

This belief is also supported by the signing of a cooperation agreement on the development of an electric vehicle battery ecosystem between state-owned holding company MIND ID and Chinese electric vehicle battery manufacturer Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited.

"So, we are ready to enter a new era of building a lithium battery ecosystem and also EV cars and if everything goes according to plan, we will also be able to produce the first lithium battery in 2025. Later in 2027, we may be one of the world's top three that will produce EV batteries as well as EV cars," he stated.
