VIVA – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno announced on Tuesday that Air New Zealand Airlines reopened the New Zealand-Indonesia flight route.

"The Auckland-Denpasar flight route has resumed operations starting March 29, 2023, by carrying 255 passengers. This flight will operate three times a week, every Wednesday, Friday, and Monday.” Minister Uno said in a written statement received here on Tuesday.

New Zealand tourists spend a lot and stay longer, with their length of stay reaching 10.3 days and average spending reaching US$1,376 per person, which is equivalent to that of European tourists, he explained.

Moreover, New Zealand is one of the potential markets for tourism, the creative sector. and the economy sector. Because before the COVID-19 pandemic, there were more than 131 thousand tourists from New Zealand visited Indonesia.

"We are targeting in the next 2-3 years to be able to attract 150 thousand New Zealand tourist visits," Minister Uno said.

On this occasion, the minister also said that several international flight routes to Indonesia to be opened. These flight routes are Air Asia Jakarta-Pnom Penh which will open on April 19, 2023, and Trans Nusa Jakarta-Kuala Lumpur route on April 14, 2023.

As information, currently, the route that has been opened includes Sri Lanka Airlines’ Jakarta-Colombo (which operates) seven times a week with two thousand seats/per week. This year, direct flights between Indonesia and India are also being planned by IndiGo on the Mumbai-Jakarta and Hyderabad-Kualanamu routes, the Minister informed.
