Indonesia, Turkiye Make Joint Agreement to Help Palestine

Riyadh – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo held a bilateral meeting with the President of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and made a joint agreement to support Palestinian freedom and independence.

"We also agreed to remind the world of the urgency to resolve the root cause of the problems by realizing a two-state solution," the President remarked during a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday.

The Head of State urged member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to unite and make utmost efforts for a ceasefire and humanitarian pauses for Palestinian people in Gaza, currently under siege by Israeli forces. 

"We ensure safe, predictable, and sustainable access to humanitarian aid for all people (in the enclave)," President Widodo remarked.

Furthermore, President Jokowi emphasized that Indonesia will use all channels to voice justice and humanity for the Palestinian people, including the UN General Assembly, the Human Rights Council, and the International Criminal Court.

Both leaders also mentioned that Turkey and Indonesia actively continue to strive to contribute to the resolution of the problem in Gaza. 

In addition, the two leaders also discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation and agreed to intensify the Indonesia-Turkiye Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IT-CEPA) negotiations so that it can be completed by 2024.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi also attended the meeting of both leaders.
