New President to be Inaugurated in IKN Nusantara

Kalimantan – PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono conveyed that the inauguration of the new Indonesian President will be in the new capital city (IKN Nusantara). In addition, the 79th anniversary ceremony will also be held there.
"On August 17, the ceremony is planned at IKN Nusantara, also the presidential inauguration. The presidential inauguration is planned there," Minister Hadimuljono said in a statement on Tuesday.
However, President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) state address will still be held at the State Palace in Jakarta, "Maybe the state address will still be here,"
As more information, the 14th Plenary Meeting of the House of Representatives of the Fourth Session Period of the 2023-2024 Session Year approved the Draft Law on the Special Capital Region of Jakarta (RUU DKJ) to become a law.
Chairman of the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the House of Representatives Supratman Andi Agtas remarked the agreed results of the discussion of the DKJ Bill consisted of 12 chapters and 73 articles.Â
He explained that previously the Legislative Body of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the Government, represented by Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, had agreed to continue the discussion of the DKJ Bill at level II talks in the nearest DPR plenary meeting to be passed into law.
The agreement was made after eight factions in the Legislation Body agreed to continue the discussion of the DKJ Bill, while one faction rejected the discussion.
Meanwhile, when delivering his final opinion on behalf of the President, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian explained that the DKJ Bill is needed as a consequence of the birth of Law Number 21 of 2023 concerning amendments to Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the National Capital City law.
The Jakarta Special Capital Region Law (DKJ) is an instrument to regulate Jakarta, which is no longer the capital of the country and has become a special region.
The DKJ Law regulates the transition of the status of the capital city of Jakarta to IKN Nusantara pending Jokowi's Presidential Decree. However, President Jokowi has not issued the Presidential Decree until now.
