Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims to Receive Smart Card from Saudi Arabia

Jakarta – Saudi Arabia's Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah introduced smart card for Hajj pilgrims in 2024. This card aims to make it easier for pilgrims to carry out their worship.

As reported by the Director General of Hajj and Umrah Organizations on Thursday (May 2), this smart card contains important information about the Hajj, including important locations during the Hajj pilgrimage, as well as a Hajj certificate which can be a memory for the congregation.

In addition from smart card, Saudi Arabia also provides fast track services at three main Indonesian airports, including Soekarno-Hatta, Adi Soemarmo Solo and Juanda Surabaya.

This service predicted to serve around 120 thousand Hajj pilgrims, helping to streamline the immigration and departure process.

Saudi Arabia also announced that it will tighten Hajj regulations in 2024,  maintain the security and safety of Hajj pilgrims. Sanctions will be given to anyone who violates these rules.

The Saudi Arabian government has set a Hajj quota of 241 thousand pilgrims for Indonesia in 2024. The Indonesian Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas appreciated the convenience and services provided by Saudi Arabia for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims.

"We express our gratitude for the ease of Hajj and Umrah travel that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has provided to Muslims in Indonesia," the minister said in a statement on Tuesday (April 30).

The implementation of smart card, fast track services and tightening Hajj regulations are new steps from Saudi Arabia to improve the quality of service and security for Hajj pilgrims in 2024.

Indonesian Hajj pilgrims get several conveniences, such as fast track services and smart cards, which are expected to help expedite the Hajj pilgrimage process.

The launch of the Smart Card was marked by a symbolic delivery to representatives of the Hajj Congregation by the Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and the Minister of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah.
