Bogor, VIVA – A fatal multi-vehicle crash at the Ciawi toll gate on the Jagorawi toll road in West Java on Tuesday evening resulted in eight deaths and injuries to 11 others, according to local police.
The accident, which occurred at 11:30 p.m. local time, led to the victims being transported to the Ciawi Regional General Hospital for medical treatment and further handling.
The hospital and police are working together to identify the victims, said Senior Commissioner Eko Prasetyo, Bogor Municipal Police Chief, on Wednesday.
The eight individuals who lost their lives in the incident comprised seven men, aged between 25 and 60 years, and a woman, estimated to be between 20 and 30 years old.
Prasetyo stated that the collision was caused by a truck transporting water gallons, which failed to stop at the toll gate.
