All Indonesian Activists in Gaza Return Home

VIVAnews - With three Gaza mission volunteers returning yesterday, Monday, June 21, the entire Indonesian volunteers, members of humanitarian group Freedom Flotilla have come back safely to the country.

Earlier on June 7, four Kispa volunteers and a tvOne journalist had also returned home followed by a volunteer from Mer-C on June 18 and three others on June 19.

The last group arriving yesterday consists of Abdillah Onim (Mer-C), Nur Ikhwan Abadi (Mer-C) and Surya Fachrizal Aprianus (Sahabat Al Aqsa/ Hidayatullah). Suffering from gunshot wounds, Surya was straightly brought to Gatot Subroto Military Hospital to receive treatment.

Onim urged the Indonesian government to issue their visa immediately to enable them to return to Gaza. “Also to allow us handing over assistance, which is a program, to the victims in Gaza”.

He also emphasized that their mission was not failed and considered it as a valuable lesson for their future missions. “We are not worried after the Israeli attack. Instead, we’re getting tougher,” he said.

On the other hand, Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection and Indonesian Legal Aid Agency Director Teguh Wardoyo said the Foreign Affairs Ministry did not recommend the people to go to countries with unstable conditions such as Palestine. However, the government would facilitate those wishing to go by for example, seeking help from the Palestinian and Jordan Embassies.
