Yudhoyono: 4 Best Measures for Palestine

VIVAnews – The Indonesian government is taking four steps to help the Palestinian people. One of them is to urge the United Nations to issue a cease fire resolution.

“Even though Indonesia is no longer a member of the UN Security Council, Indonesia strongly urges the Security Council to issue a resolution to stop its military attacks against the Palestine,” said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the State Palace, Central Jakarta on Monday, Jan. 5.

If the UN Security Council’s mechanism reaches a dead end, then Indonesia will seek another diplomatic approach. According to the President, Indonesia will try to go through the UN General Assembly.

Second, Indonesia is willing to be an active monitor in the cease fire process. “Indonesia is willing and offering itself to send a monitoring team,” said Yudhoyono.

The third policy is one that Indonesia has been doing and will continue to do, which is to send humanitarian aid to the victims in Palestine. This will continue to be done even though there are many obstacles in the process of distributing the aid.

The last measure is that Indonesia will continue to coordinate with other countries and the Islamic Conference Organization. “The most imminent and important thing for Indonesia is an end to the hostilities. Too many victims have fallen, children and women. That’s the best from Indonesia for Palestine,” said Yudhoyono.
