VIVAnews – The Indonesian government has modified the nation’s economic growth target from 6.7 percent to 6.5 – 6.7 percent.  This change was made by the government to anticipate the current downturn in the global economy.

“We have 6.7 percent of budget for next year. However, the latest growth has given us a range of between 6.5 and 6.7 percent,” said Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo, today.

Agus said that Indonesia may reach the targeted economic growth of 6.7 percent if the draft of Land Acquisition Bill is completed soon as it can improve the nation’s infrastructure.

Several issues that the government should pay attention to the most include the targeted economic growth of 6.7 percent, the expected poverty level of 10.5 – 11.5 percent, and manpower employment of 450 thousand people per one percent of economic growth.

Meanwhile, for open unemployment level, the government has targeted a decrease of 6.4 – 6.6 percent.

Agus acknowledged that Indonesia’s deficit rate in 2012 must be closely monitored as the crude oil budget has increased from US$90 per barrel to US$110 per barrel.
