VIVAnews - Bank Indonesia (BI) maintains the national benchmark interest rate, BI Rate, at six percent.

"The BI Rate keeps up with the financial system and domestic economy," said BI Governor, Darmin Nasution, today, Jan 12.

BI said that along 2011, the Indonesian economy recorded excellent growth with low inflation, stable exchange rate and solid financial system. BI will be monitoring the global economy. The inflation in 2012 and 2013 is set at 4.5 percent plus-minus 1 percent.

BI Board of Governors believes the downturn in global economy will remain due to the economic crisis in Europe.

The domestic economic growth is relatively strong in line with the stability of macro economy and finance.

Overall, the economic growth in 2012 is figured to hit 6.5 percent, higher than the previous percentage of 6.1 percent.
