VIVAnews - PT Freeport Indonesia said the company still halts production as the workers are back on strike since last week. However, the company continues to establish communication to have an agreement.

Executive Director of Freeport Indonesia, Sinta Sirait, claimed Freeport is ready to implement the agreed commitment.

“There is a bit interruption in place. Probably, there hasn’t been any agreement between the working employees and the ones on strike,” said Sinta today.

For now, she continued, Freeport’s mining production is discontinued, but the concentrate shipping is still ongoing.

Freeport’s workers are back on strike and stopped their activities in Grasberg gold mine in Timika, Papua. Several workers who did not participate in the strike were subjects to acts of violence.

“We are currently facing labor problems in relation with our attempt to restore our normal operation in Mimika, Papua,” said Freeport Indonesia’s spokesman, Ramdhani Sirait, in a press statement last weekend.
